Harrisburg Colored Giants (c. 1930's)
The Harrisburg Colored Giants of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania were promoted by the Sam Huff Agency of Pottsville, Pennsylvania. This poster features a team photo of the Giants with a blank section for the opponent’s name, date, time and place to be filled in. The reason for using this type of poster was that only one printing of a poster needed to be done at the beginning of the season and these would last the team the entire season.

Harrisburg Colored Giants
The Harrisburg Colored Giants started as an independent ball club in 1922. The Giants were owned by local businessman C.W. “ Colonel” Strothers. In1924 the Giants entered the Eastern Colored League (ECL). They remained part of the Eastern Colored League (ECL) from 1924 through the 1927 season. Oscar Charleston was the featured player for the Harrisburg Colored Giants. Their best season in the ECL was in 1925 when they finished second with a record of 37-18.
The Giants also played an extensive independent-barnstorming schedule when they weren’t playing Eastern Colored League games. The team disbanded in 1928 and reformed in 1932 for one season. During this season they played an independent schedule.
