The 1956 Kansas City Monarchs were owned by Ted Rasberry from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was in the second year of his ownership of the team. During the 1956 season, the following players helped lead the Monarchs attack: Walter Bond, John Kenedy, Enrique Maroto, Ira Mc Knight, Robert Mitchell, and Eugene White. Negro League veteran Olan “Jelly” Taylor managed the 1956 Kansas City Monarchs.

The key players for the 1956 Birmingham Black Barons were: Otha Bailey, Rufus Gipson,  Wiley Griggs, Stanley Jones, Frank Marsh,  Jessie Mitchell, and John Williams. James “Cat” Canada managed the 1956 Black Barons.
